The process of becoming a rope access technician will vary depending which organization you want to use.
Typically you will undergo one week of practical and theoretical training before participating in an assessment or evaluation. Feel free to reach out to us for more information and recommendations!
The use of rope access systems can save the client significant amounts of time and money. Rope access
allows technicians to access hard to reach areas with drastically less mobilization time than most other
access methods. Rope access also provides teams with the ability to deviate and adjust their access on the
fly.
Rope access has very little risk compared to alternative access methods. Rope access uses a two-rope
system regardless of fall exposure. This eliminates the “guesswork” when trying to determine if a job falls
under working at heights. All team members are trained in rescue techniques and remain on site at all times.
Therefore, in the unlikely event that a technician needs to be rescued there is no time wasted trying to contact
rescue services.
Rope access technicians undertake rigorous training and must pass a challenging evaluation/assessment to
become certified. Technicians are required to repeat this training process every three years. If a technician
does not engage in rope access work for approximately six months, they are required to take a full day of
refresher training. All technician certifications can be made available to clients for verification purposes.
Rope access can be used for an incredibly wide variety of scopes. To name a few:
- Wind turbine repair and maintenance
- Building maintenance
- Bridge work
- Geotechnical work
- Welding
- Insulating
- Mechanical Repairs
- Dams
- Inspections
- Confined Space Work
